Pre Production

We knew that capturing footage at Europe’s largest and most bustling port was going to be a considerable challenge. We spent two long days scouting for locations and then sought the necessary permits. These included permissions for filming within the port premises as well as operating a drone above the port and its vicinity. Once we had all our final authorisations, three optimal filming days were chosen based on favourable weather forecasts.

Shooting

We took three days to film the entire production. The first day was focussed on capturing the speeches of the five main speakers. The next day-and-a-half was dedicated to extensive b-roll footage of the vessels and the connection of offshore power – a considerable undertaking. Lastly, we used the remaining half-day and evening session to film the vessels, the port and the wind turbines using a drone.

Feedback and Synima corporate films

Heerema was thrilled by the outcome of the video and was even more ecstatic when the production won the VEGA Digital Awards 2022 Canopus Award. The project was both trailblazing and complex and we wanted the video to capture some of the scale, ambition and hard work that went into it. As an exemplary environmental case study for the global marine industry, Synima was proud to be a part of documenting it.
